But Wait, ... There's More

J.B. Shepherd's Tips:

Some of the deductions I've made have been... "Flamingo Road" (I recognized Sidney Greenstreet, looked up his filmography and identified it through process of elimination based on his character name, and the setting and time period of the movie), "They Shoot Horses Don't They" (the picture was a dance competition... what other movie could it be? The aspect ratio clinched it.) The "siblings appearing together" theme week I got because I knew "Man of a Thousand Faces" had Cagney's sister in it, and "Orphans of the Storm" had the Gish sisters. The rest I extrapolated.

ZHM: The Films of Joan Crawford (Citadel Press) had a photo of Greenstreet in the white suit. It was a dead match for the screen shot. I figured out the Cagney movie from the fact that it was B&W, the aspect ratio was 2.35:1, and it looked like a takeoff of the Phantom of the Opera. Orphans was my first choice for Lillian Gish's movie, but it took a lot of fast-forwarding to find it in the movie. D.W. Griffith sure uses a lot of cuts.
